Platinum/PGM catalyst

KARhas provided catalyst gauzes for nitric acid production for more than 70 years. The products are currently being exported to several countries.
The manufactured thin wire 60 to 120 micron diameter are woven or knitted to create a smooth and active surface.

Nitric acid production by oxidation of ammonia:

A gauze pack may consist of catalyst gauzes of Pt5%Rh and recovery gauzes of Pd5%Ni.
The most important factors regarding your gauze pack is combustion yield, lifetime / campaign length, metal loss and kg’s of metal installed. Reactor types can be atmospheric pressure, low, medium and high pressure.

Technical data:

Wire thickness typically 60 to 120 microns. 8 to 32 threads per cm in the warp and weft, ie 64-1024 openings per cm2 (mesh per cm2).
Weight: 400-1000 grams per m2, depending on the wire diameter and mesh size.
75 micron wire and 1024 mesh per cm2 and a basis weight of 625 grams per m2 Pt5%Rh.
16 x 16 threads per cm, ie 256 meh per cm2 and 0.075 mm wire and an aperture of 0.3 mm2.
32 x 32 threads per cm, ie 1024 mesh per cm2 and 0.075 mm wire and an aperture of 0.06 mm2.

Knitted gauzes:

Wire thickness 60-90 microns.
Your work with one or two sets of threads / warps.
Basis weight of knitted net is about the same per m2 of woven net, this depends on the pattern. Number of different patterns are 9 in warp 1 combined with 13 different patterns in warp 2, which provides a large number of possible patterns.
Knitted networks are more flexible than woven.
Knitted gauzes from KAR are designed to provide a large number of small openings.
KAR deliver  gauzes up to 5 meters in diameter with alloy, wire diameter and the pattern request of our customers.
